This topic is an overview of the tabs and fields on the document.

The Basics tab of the Server document is divided into these sections:

Basics

Table 1. Basics

The distinguished name of the server assigned during server registration.

An optional server description

The name of the Domino® domain of which this server is a member. The domain name is specified during server registration.

Fully qualified Internet host name

The fully-qualified Internet host name of the Domino server, for example, host1.acme.com .

Name of a Domino cluster to which this server belongs. This is a read-only field and is completed by the Administration process.

Load Internet configurations from Server\Internet Sites documents

Specifies whether the server obtains Internet protocol configuration information from Internet Site documents or from the Server document. Choose one:

Each time you start or restart the server, a console message indicates the source of the server's Internet protocol configuration information.

Maximum formula execution time

The maximum time, in seconds, that a formula can run. If a formula fails to complete within the specified time, Domino interrupts it.

Server build number

Domino version or build number. This is a read-only field and is completed by the Administration process.

The routing tasks supported by this server. Choose one or more:

SMTP listener task

Specifies whether the server runs the SMTP listener task. Servers running the SMTP listener can accept incoming connections from other SMTP hosts. Choose one:

Server's phone number(s)

For servers that are available over dialup connections, specifies the phone numbers that a modem can call to connect to the server. The numbers specified are displayed in the Server - Servers view of the Domino Directory.

The number of processors configured on the computer that hosts the Domino server. This is a read-only field and is completed by the Administration process.

The server's operating system. This is a read only field and is completed by the Administration process.

Is this a Sametime® server?

Specifies whether the Domino server also acts as a IBM® Sametime server. For more information, see the Sametime product documentation, in the related links.

Directory Information

Directory assistance database name

Name of a directory assistance database the server uses.

Name of condensed directory catalog on this server

Name of a condensed directory catalog the server uses.

Trust the server based condensed directory catalog for authentication with internet protocols

Indicates whether all user names aggregated in a condensed directory catalog on this server are trusted for client authentication.

Read only field. Filled in by the Administration process. Indicates whether the Domino Directory on the server is a primary Domino Directory or a Configuration Directory.

Allow this directory to be used as a remote primary directory for other servers

Indicates whether servers with Configuration Directories can use the primary Domino Directory on the server for remote lookups.

Automatic Server Recovery

Run this Script after server fault/crash

Enter the entire script name, including any extensions.

For example, to automatically invoke a script which shuts down any backup programs, enter:

c:\myprograms\quitbkup.bat

Do not try to enable NSD from this field. You can enable NSD in the field Run NSD to collect diagnostic information .

Note: Directory separators (slashes) in the file name portion are converted for the operating system, but slashes in optional arguments are not converted.

Run NSD to Collect Diagnostic Information

Select this check box to enable the NSD automatic diagnostic data collection. Releases of Domino prior to Domino 6.0.3 ignore this check box.

Automatically restart server fault/crash

Select this check box to enable Automatic Server Recovery (sometimes called Fault Recovery).

When this field is enabled, the fields Maximum Fault Limits and Mail Fault Notification to appear.

Cleanup Script/NSD Maximum Execution Time

Specifies the time, in seconds that the cleanup script or NSD is allowed to run. If the script or NSD does not complete within the specified interval, it is stopped. The default execution time is 300 seconds (5 minutes). Maximum is 1800 seconds.

Maximum Fault Limits

The number of times the server is allowed to restart during a specified time period, in minutes -- for example, 3 faults within 5 minutes. If the number of faults exceeds the number of allowed restarts for the interval, the server exits without restarting.

Mail Fault Notification to

The name of a user or group that Domino sends mail to after fault recovery restarts the server.

Phone Dialing

Note: Support for dialup modem (X.PC) connections is available only in releases of Domino earlier than release 8.5. You may continue to use Domino Administrator 8.5 to configure and maintain modem support, but only on servers running releases older than 8.5. You may continue to use network dialup connection through Microsoft™ Dialup Networking (DUN) or Remote Access Service (RAS) in all releases.

Table 4. Phone Dialing

The prefix required to dial an external number. For example, enter 9 if you normally have to dial 9 to obtain an outside line.

The prefix required when dialing to another country.

Country code at this location

The country code for the location from which you are dialing. When used with other information for an organization, the country code helps identify the correct location.

Long distance prefix

The prefix for dialing long distance from this location.

Area code at this location

The assigned area code that identifies the area from which you are calling.

Calling card access number

Calling card access phone number you want to use at this location.

Calling card number

Calling card number you want to use at this location.

Network Dialup idle timeout

Number of minutes to wait before giving up on a failed connection

Additional Info

Specifies whether the server obtains time zone and daylight savings time rules from the server's operating system.

Servers

Table 5. Servers

Specifies the full name of the mail server to be used at this location.

Specifies the name of a default pass-through server.

The hierarchical name of the server running the Web task. This is the default server to use if the InterNotes server field in the user's Location document is blank. The server you specify in this field on the Location document takes precedence over the server specified in the InterNotes server field on this document.
